13 December 2023 - Visma, specialist in business software, has acquired Belgian HR-tech company Syntegro. Syntegro has been a reference in workforce management software for 16 years. It offers a complete solution for time registration and workforce planning. With this acquisition, Visma increases its position in the Belgian workforce management technology market, while Syntegro underlines its growth ambitions into the Dutch and European markets.

Visma acquires Syntegro

Syntegro was founded in 2007 by four engineers with an entrepreneurial dream. With nearly 80 years of combined experience, they have developed a flexible SaaS solution for workforce management. Since gaining support from a new shareholder and appointing a new Managing Director five years ago, Syntegro has experienced rapid growth. The company’s workforce has expanded from 10 to 50 employees, and turnover has surged sixfold. Today, Syntegro serves around 700 clients, with between 20,000 and 40,000 employees utilising the technology daily. The majority of these clients are large enterprises, with 80% employing at least 250 people.

Fully customisable

Syntegro's rapid growth over the past five years is of course also related to market evolutions. Across all segments, the popularity of SaaS solutions has grown considerably. What makes Syntegro so special is the flexibility of the solution. Syntegro's specialists configure the software package fully tailored to the customer's needs without programming.

In this way, the solution easily evolves with each company and with legislation, making the tool future-proof and clients locked in for a longer period of time.

Reference in Belgium and the Netherlands

To provide customers with the best possible support, Syntegro has in recent years invested mainly in consultants and the organisation around the solution. The acquisition by Visma allows Syntegro to take the next step in its growth story. For the company's existing customers, nothing will change. The company name, products and all agreements will be retained. However, as part of the Visma group, Syntegro can draw on the wealth of expertise in Visma's ecosystem.

Frank De Weser, Managing Director of Syntegro"Syntegro has established itself as the leading name in workforce management solutions in Belgium. We have also been experiencing significant growth in the Netherlands. Thanks to Visma, we are poised to further accelerate our international expansion.
Mikael Westöö, Chairman of the Board at Visma: "In a rapidly changing economy with acute staff shortages, companies need to be able to realise the full potential of their workforce. As a result, we see an increasing demand for workforce management solutions that facilitate the optimal deployment of staff within the new way of working. With the acquisition of Syntegro, Visma expands its HR workforce management portfolio and takes an important step to strengthen its position in this market."
